95km Outer Loop

Start with a larger outer loop, before a smaller inner loop that misses out Dunion Hill

0-28km: Opening With Steady Climbing

The stage begins immediately with a series of steady climbs. From 5km to 10km, average of 3%.

At 17.4km, a short climb:

  • Distance: 1.34km

  • Gradient: 3.4%, 9.0% average

28-35.7km: Kicker Sequence

At 28km, sequence of short punchy climbs to tackle, at 4km in length (QOM: 10mins)

With the most challenging of the kicks being one of the first and also comes as the riders turn right of a main road and the hill is on narrower roads

35.7-42km: Approach to Major Climb

A transitional section leading riders through the rural landscape toward the first major climb. Nothing significant to note. The start of the climb is technical therefore expect a fast run in to manage positioning into the narrow start of the climb.

42-48km: Dingleton Climb - First Ascent

Narrow approach to the start of the climb. As enter town, filter to the left of the main road to start the hill.

Then pinches further after 90 degree corner

After the Dingleton descent, riders traverse rolling countryside to Dunion Climb. Descent road conditions and wide roads.

Straightforward run into the hill on the main road

Rolling roads alongside the River Tweed lead back to Kelso for the intermediate sprint and start of the second loop.
