Course Structure:

  • Forest roads and rolling terrain (0 - 23.5 km)

  • Moorland crossing with major climb (23.5-48km)

  • Technical section through villages (48-58km)

  • Flat coastal run-in (58-85.6km)

Section 1: Forest Start (0-23.5km)

The opening section takes riders through Dalby Forest and surrounding countryside on predominantly wide, well-surfaced roads.

  • Gentle rolling terrain through forest roads

  • Pass through historic market town of Pickering

  • Take a right of the main road at 23.5km to start the Moors road

Section 2: Across the Moors (23.5-48km)

This section features a climb up and cross the exposed North York Moors. QOM at the top

  • Main climb begins at Hutton-le-Hole (27.9km) - QOM

  • Exposed moorland roads with potential crosswinds. Weather can play a significant factor.

The entire climb is 6.3km long:

Followed by a straight forward descent into Castleton

Section 3: Kicks and Twists (48-58km)

After descending from the Moors, take a left in Castleton village and riders face a challenging sequence of short, steep climbs.

  • Sharp left turn into Castleton initiates section into the 2nd QOM

Section 4: Coastal Run-in (58-85.6km)

The final section offers fast, flat roads.

  • Wide, main roads

  • Intermediate sprint at Newton-under-Roseberry (67.1km)

  • Final 3km along coast road

  • Flat finish on Coast Road

  • Exposed coastal section - potential for crosswinds
