“It takes away all the uncertainty of what to do and just keeps me focused.”
Where they started
Years of cycling in the legs but no real purpose or structure behind it. Fitness had plateaued. Enjoyed the idea of the local chain gang but never had the fitness to feel like belonged. Came to Qdos wanting to make better use of his time on the bike and get fitter with a stretch goal of being able to do the local chain gang and maybe some local crit racing.
What changed
Removed the guesswork entirely. Introduced targeted, structured training and built the habit of consistency. Clear improvements in numbers and capacity across the winter. Gave him a better understanding of his strengths and weaknesses, and how to use both to his advantage. With that foundation in place, local events became an obvious next step and the goals shifted to racing with enjoyment rather than anxiety.
Where they are now
Cat 4 race winner in his first season. Completing the full local chain gang. Steady, measurable progress with more to come.
In their words
“It stops me from trying to do too much and makes sure I'm doing the training when it counts. I haven't had any injuries or burnouts, and yet I've just kept on improving. It's educated me on how to think about training and what it's really trying to do.
